& EXPANDED AREA MEALS DELIVERY

As we enter the 12th month of the Covid-19 pandemic we are remain closed for congregate dining and group activities to in order to protect those that we serve as well as our volunteers.  We continue to provide meals Monday – Friday, as well as extra meals for the weekend.    The Meals on Wheels program is serviced through the Senior Center for anyone 60 years or older, however, we serve anyone who is in need of a meal.    The requested donation is  $5.00 for those who are able to pay.  Delivery of Meals is also coordinated through the Senior Center.  We request that reservations are made at least 24 hours in advance for both take out , and delivery of meals.  Visit our menu to see what is being served for the month; and you may make your reservation on-line by clicking on the Meal Reservation button at the bottom of the page or by selecting from the Services drop down menu located at the upper right.

FEBRUARY 1, 2020:  WE ARE WORKING ON BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE
2020 INCOME TAX PREPARATION SERVICE THROUGH AARP TAX AIDE.
WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF WORKING WITH OUR DISTRICT COORDINATOR ON A DATE TO BEGIN (NOT BEFORE MID-FREBRUARY).  PLEASE CALL 682-4422 & LEAVE YOU NAME & NUMBER – WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU.

We have provided 10,160 meals through October 2020, 35% increase over 2019; and 8,075 since transitioning to delivery and take-out on March 17th.   We continue to operate with Briana Nelson our super-hero Service Manager, and a single volunteer in the kitchen, and one at the front desk.  We and the individuals we serve are grateful to our Meals on Wheels volunteers who deliver the meals regardless of the weather and distance.

The center is operated by Ennis Senior Center, Inc a not-for-profit organization that was formed in March 2015.  Since forming, we have procured the building and have completed the first phase of the building renovations  which allowed us to open October 6, 2015 (this date should have been a day of celebration for 5 years, but alas Covid made that impossible).  We completed an expansion in and parking lot improvements in 2018.  The expansion was made possible by a Lions International Foundation matching fund grant. We have paid down our mortgage and have refinanced at a lower fixed rate.  Our goal is to pay off the loan which will allow us to provide more services.

We also need on-going financial support.  Our  funding sources are from the Madison County Senior Services levy, and from Southwest Montana Aging and Disability Services (dependent upon State & Federal Funding); and donations from Community organizations including the Ennis Lion’s Club, Madison Valley Woman’s Club, First Interstate Bank, Three Rivers Communications, True Value  and individuals.  We do not receive financial support from the Town of Ennis.   We are finding that more seniors are unable to pay the requested $5.00 donation for their delivered meals and take-out meals.  All funds raised are solely to provide for meals and services for the senior citizens in our community.

We look forward to a time when we are able to open our doors once again and expand upon the activities we will be able to offer.

We welcome any and all volunteer assistance whether it be in working in the kitchen, serving meals, greeting and answering the phone, coordinating activities, simply being available to assist in any capacity.  Please complete our Volunteer Information sheet (found under About Us above) and contact us.

We recently purchased a new “senior friendly” computer that is available for use by individuals who need to do their open enrollment updates; or apply for other services.  Call 682-4422 or send an email to ennis.seniorcenter@gmail.com to schedule time.

Stay Safe & Be Grateful
